ANCHOR & DEN BRINGS FLAVORS OF SPAIN TO OUT OF THE KITCHEN EVENT
The Beach House team was proud to be part of this year’s Out of the Kitchen event – a gourmet gala featuring Cayman’s finest restaurants showing off their latest gastronomic offerings.
It was a fun evening not only for the attendees but also the chefs, who had the rare opportunity to enjoy the limelight as they mingled with guests while cooking table-side. The event was a big success with nearly 300 guests in attendance.
For the second year in a row, our very own Anchor & Den was one of the highlights of the evening, taking guests on a culinary tour of Spain with exquisite dishes from our signature Tapas Night. We are proud to say that a number of people were stopping by our table (including Governor Helen Kirkpatrick) to sample our offering!
A select group of familiar faces from around Cayman were invited to join the Anchor & Den table. As they walked into the room, they were impressed by a beautiful and inspiring table setting (with lights and all!) which made you feel like you were sitting in a Tapas Bar in Barcelona on a hot summer’s night. They were then welcomed with a signature Apothecary cocktail as they sat down to enjoy the evening.
Our new Chef de Cuisine, Santiago Mancini, led the culinary team in showcasing El Mercat – Nit de Tapes, presenting delicious tapas, paella, and a selection of charcuterie and cheeses to enthusiastic guests. Well-received dishes included Pulpo a la gallega (Galician-style octopus), Paella Valenciana and the Jamon Iberico, which was carved at the table to everyone’s delight. As a nightcap, guests were given a specialty cocktail from our Apothecary, Thyme-infused Negroni. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
Joanna Lewis, Editor of Flava magazine and one of our guests at the event, commented: “Out of the Kitchen is always a great night filled with fantastic food, free-flowing drinks and good company. Marriott’s Anchor & Den restaurant showcased their mouthwatering tapas selection at the gourmet event, proving that the best things really do come in small packages, or in this instance, small plates. It’s hard to pick which was my favorite dish of the night; the melt in the mouth Jamon Iberico, carved wafer thin table-side; the decadent selection of specialty cheeses paired with delicious breads, buttery oven-roasted garlic, and freshly pressed vine-ripened tomatoes; or the flavor-filled seafood dishes, such as the paella packed with shrimp, lobster, scallops and mussels. Indeed, my mouth is watering just thinking about it all! If you haven’t visited Anchor & Den’s El Mercat – Nit de Tapes then you must. As Anchor & Den proved at Out of the Kitchen, this really is tapas at its very finest.”
